    PROPOSED SUIMAS RATES 2025

At Suimas Interior Designers (Suimas Ltd) – with operations through interiordesigners.co.ke – we believe that understanding cost is the first step to a successful project. Whether you are planning a simple living room makeover or a full office fit-out, you need a clear breakdown of what each element costs, what is included, and how to budget realistically.

This guide uses Suimas’ 2025 guideline rates to explain the actual cost of interior design in Kenya, broken down by category: painting, ceilings, partitions, mirrors, joinery, flooring, tiles, plumbing, and electrical works.

📝 Note: All figures are guideline rates and may vary with design complexity, site conditions, location outside Nairobi, and material selections.

    1. Preliminaries & Mobilisation Costs

Before any work begins, there are preliminaries – the cost of mobilizing tools, staff, supervision, site protection and logistics.

    Suimas rates:

    • Within Nairobi

      • Provide all tools, necessary protection, and mobilisation:
        Item: KSh 30,000

    • Sites outside Nairobi

      • Tools, protection, mobilisation and logistics (fuel, transport, accommodation where applicable):
        Item: KSh 50,000

These are one-off costs per project, not per room, and are crucial for safe, organized and professionally supervised work.

    2. Cost of Paint Work in Kenya (Suimas Rates)

Painting is usually the most visible yet one of the most cost-effective transformations.

    Suimas paint work rates:

    • Paint work for areas less than 100 m²

      • KSh 850 per m²

    • Paint work for areas more than 100 m²

      • KSh 500 per m²

    • Gloss paint

      • KSh 850 per m²

    • Special effect paint

      • Rate: project-specific (depends on brand, effect and complexity)

    Example:
If you have a 25 m² living room and qualify for the “more than 100 m²” general rate as part of a bigger project, the basic painting cost would be approximately:

    • 25 m² × KSh 500 = KSh 12,500 (excluding preliminaries and special effects).

    3. Partitions, Ceilings & Acoustic Treatments
